Here are a series of questions, followed by third-party research which may help you develop an informed opinion about the relationship between oxygen and health support with cancer. This information is intended for educational purposes only.
Does oxygen kill cancer?
Simply stated — No.
Otto Warburg received the Nobel Prize in 1931 for discovering that cancer occurs in a low-oxygen environment. Click here to read his Nobel Prize Lecture.
Does “Cancer Hate Oxygen”?
Otto Warburg exhaustively tested the injection of oxygen into tumors. He found that oxygen had no curative effect on tumor cells. If the administration of oxygen to cancer killed cancer — curing cancer would be as trivial as injecting oxygen into tumors.
Any expert who says “Cancer Hates Oxygen” misunderstands Warburg’s research. It is unwise to trust anyone who asserts this.
Warburg proved that cancer, once formed, is not affected, let alone cured by oxygen.
The statement that “Cancer Hates Oxygen” is patently false.
Warburg Research in a nutshell concluded:
- That oxygen has no apparent effect on cancer or tumor cells because these cells have evolved not to use oxygen.
- Long-term oxygen deficiency to cells promotes mutations toward cancer.
What research shows that oxygen in healthy tissue near cancer inhibits progression?
It is natural to conclude that oxygen levels in the tissue surrounding lesions support vitality and immune function in surrounding tissue.
This article cites how hyperbaric therapy retards metastasis and progression in head and neck cancers and enables nearby tissue injured by radiation treatment to remain more healthy.
Do therapies that increase the oxygen level in the body support health?
Warburg’s Nobel Prize clearly identified chronic hypoxia, low long-term tissue low oxygen levels, as the enabling circumstance for cancer formation.
Many studies show that low oxygen, hypoxia, promotes cancer growth and metastasis:

This search clearly illustrates that low oxygen promotes the development, growth, and spread of cancer.
While the absence of oxygen clearly promotes cancer, a surplus of oxygen does not cure it.
Does LiveO2 support conventional Cancer Treatment?
Manfred von Ardenne showed that conventional cancer treatments, Radiation, Chemotherapy, and Surgery, dramatically injure the body. The following graphs show the loss of oxygen status as a result of these treatments.
If you’re not into graphs… All cancer treatments badly damage the body’s energy production. They reduce energy to about 50% of normal. These graphs reproduced from “Oxygen Multistep Therapy”, Buy on Amazon, view on Google Books, show how cancer therapies, Chemotherapy, Radiation, and Surgery harm the body’s energy production.
The distance between the upper and lower lines expresses the amount of oxygen used by the body — the closer the lines are to each other, the less energy the body makes, and the worse the energy loss. This energy loss is a primary side effect of conventional cancer treatments.
Graph Summaries:
- Chemotherapy: 47% loss progressive over 50 days — not restored during the experiment period;
- Radiation: 45% loss, drops after each treatment — not restored during the experiment;
- Surgery: 50% loss immediately — restored after 37 days.
The energy loss severely inhibits the immune system’s performance. This energy loss is functionally restorable.
Benefit Explained
This graph shows the energy production cycle during influenza for a 75-year-old male using the 15-minute fast procedure for an individual with influenza. Oxygen Multistep Therapy is the predecessor to LiveO2 Adaptive Contrast.
