Do therapies that increase the oxygen level in macular tissue create therapeutic benefit?

These peer-reviewed papers seek infor­ma­tion on hyper­bar­ic oxy­gen ther­a­py, a med­ical procedure.

The spe­cif­ic ques­tion: Is hyper­bar­ic ther­a­py ben­e­fi­cial to indi­vid­u­als with mac­u­lar degen­er­a­tion. The pos­i­tive results would be appro­pri­ate to dis­cuss hyper­bar­ic ther­a­py with your med­ical provider, even though mac­u­lar degen­er­a­tion is not an accept­ed “treat­ment” for mac­u­lar degeneration.

Is low oxygen in the macular tissue a factor in the progression of macular degeneration?

If the answer is yes then tech­nolo­gies that increase oxy­gen in the blood will decrease the at least one of the ele­ments of a cause in the con­di­tion. If the answer is no, then tech­nolo­gies that increase oxy­gen will like­ly have no effect.

If you feel these ref­er­ences suf­fi­cient­ly answer the ques­tion about the poten­tial causal role in insuf­fi­cient oxy­gen in the mac­u­lar tis­sue — then it is rea­son­able that any tech­nique which increas­es plas­ma dis­solved oxy­gen is like­ly ben­e­fi­cial to neu­tral­ize a causal factor.

Reduc­ing the cause of any dis­ease con­di­tion will gen­er­al­ly inhib­it the pro­gres­sion of the condition.

What are alternative techniques for increasing oxygen levels in whole-body tissue?
